❋ THE STORYAs the year of the Fire Horse approached, I was struck by the memes being shared by 'horsey’ people, saying that if you want to be able to handle the energy of the Fire Horse, you should lunge it first (a practice of running a horse in a tight circle at the end of a length of rope to let it run out some of its energy before getting on its back).
Being a rider I chuckled at this but quickly found myself shaking my head as I contemplated what the Fire Horse means to me. Some would say that the year of the Fire Horse is not a great year to be born in - as those born in this year are considered too strong-willed, hot-tempered and fiery. But to that I also say ‘PAH!’
Horses hold a special place in my heart. A life-long rider, I’ve spent many hours in the presence of these big-hearted and noble animals. I’ve experienced their calm and their fire.
You can speak to almost any Astrologer right now and they will tell you that we are in a period of rapid and intense change, societal unrest and collapse of old controlling structures.
❋ A CYCLE OF RAPID CHANGEThe year of the snake caused us to purge that which does not serve us, many old traumas and patterns rising up to be dealt with one more time, so that we really learn the lesson.

❋ HOLD ON TO YOUR HORSES❋ MY TAKETo those who say one should drain the energy of the Fire Horse to make it safer, I say no…point that horse at the horizon, grab a hand-full of fiery mane and hold on tight. Let that horse run, feel the energy beneath you, feel the life running through you and embrace the power, joy and the adrenalin.
These times are intense. They are not for the faint of heart, and the Fire Horse knows that. It takes will-power and big-hearted courage to face what we are collectively facing and make it through the day.
