About the Artist

Since the summer of 2016 I’ve been a full-time illustrator working from my home studio in remote West Wales.

Prior to launching into my illustration career I was an Art Director for a branding and marketing agency near Toronto, Canada. I always consider my background in design to be one of the bedrocks of my creative abilities, allowing me to create my own brand, manage my own website and social media presence and craft amazing designs for clients who find me here on the internet.

My first love however has always been illustration, and it was the call of my life-long dream that set me on this path of being a freelance illustrator whilst also returning back to my homeland in the UK to rediscover my roots.

Finding Meaning

After a few years of trying out the local arts and crafts scene here in Wales, I found myself seeking a deeper meaning to my work. Creating pretty pictures for home decor just wasn’t enough anymore in a world that I could see desperately needed more. I started to explore spiritual and visionary art, following a deep longing and instinct to bring what I “felt” and “saw” into the world, these artworks I then shared online and also at local wellbeing festivals. It wasn’t long before I received an email from author Kyle Gray asking me if I wanted to collaborate on a new Angel themed Oracle deck to be published by leading spiritual and mindfulness publishing house - Hay House. It was the opportunity of a life-time and of course I said yes!

Exploring Abundance

I’ve always believed that the starving artist trope is a concept that desperately needs to be changed and certainly having a background in design taught me how to value my work and my skills, quote projects and get work done on time. I strongly believe in charging appropriately for my work and receiving proper credit and acknowledgement. I also want to encourage young aspiring artists to understand that they can indeed make a living as an artist, that they won’t starve and it is entirely possible to do what they love. I truly believe we are in the midst of a kind of Renaissance and the sky is the limit for creative professionals.

Finding Freedom

As a creative with intuitive and visionary tendencies I believe strongly in having creative freedom to express my abilities through my artwork. My work has a solid grounding but it’s also important to me to be able to take time to explore through creative portals into the unknown. I believe every artist needs that time to creatively free-wheel and it was one of the driving forces that took me out of the graphic design world and into illustration. I’m delighted that I’ve been able to craft my own little niche here on the internet to share my creations, inspirations and channeled wisdom with those who are interested.

Experiencing Joy

My work is imbued with a sense of joyousness, freedom and beautiful energy and since that transformative change in 2016 I have vowed to continue to explore joyful experiences in order to continue to share my art with the world. My artwork truly is a representation of my Soul’s journey and I’m honoured and delighted that I get to share this with the world on a daily basis.

Keeping our world at the heart of what I do

Despite our world leaders dragging their heels about doing anything meaningful when it comes to climate change, environmental protections and our future generations, I continue to keep the planet and our future at the forefront of my mind when I make business decisions.

My Efforts:

• Solar powered business - working from home and digitally means I can largely power my computer and technology with power from only the solar panels.

• Investing wisely - I invest in technology and products that stand the test of time, and endeavour to recycle, up-cycle or donate items of tech that no longer work for me to ensure they continue to be of use and do not go to landfill.

• Re-using packaging - I regularly re-purpose and re-use packaging received from my suppliers when shipping items from my shop. I purposefully do not include any additional fliers, decorative stickers or wastage within my parcels to reduce waste and shipping fees.

• Print on demand - I print products for my print shop on demand, not holding large amounts of stock that may not sell within my studio, therefore I only carry what I sell and reduce waste in this way.

• Sourcing local suppliers - I endeavour to purchase from local suppliers only, reducing the carbon footprint of all my products as a result.

FAQs

  • The oracle deck pouches were created to accompany the various decks I've created for Kyle Gray. I order them in small quantities from a local manufacturer.

    Sadly this manufacturer now requires much higher minimum orders which are out of my reach. As such you can buy them directly from them here.

  • Yes, I work regularly with people all over the world on a one-to-one basis for intuitive artworks. I also work with publishers on oracle decks and book covers and popular book loot subscription boxes for custom-designed merchandise.

  • My impact on the environment is always top of mind when I am considering making or manufacturing something to sell in my shop.

    Here are some of the things I have in place to reduce my environmental impact:

    • I order in small, limited quantities

    • I seek local manufacturers where possible - ideally based in the UK

    • My prints are wrapped in a bio-degradable cello wrap

    • My packaging is entirely recyclable and I send as little extra "stuff" as possible.

    • I work from home and I walk to the post office in my village, keeping my car use to a minimum.

    • I was fortunate enough to qualify for a grant to have solar panels installed on my roof, as such, since I work from home, when I'm working on my computer (which is most of the time) that energy now comes directly from the sun!

    • I buy second hand, or refurbished technology where possible and source items that I know will last me 10+ years.
