The Sun card

Hi friends,

I’m delighted to share the finished artwork for The Sun card. After putting this project on hold in April of 2023 whilst I worked on a large commission with an intense deadline, at the beginning of 2024 I started to feel the urge to get this project back on track. An evening of doodling on my iPad turned into the next card for the deck - the wonderful Sun card.

Creating a 78 card deck is no mean feat and I've regularly found myself procrastinating with it as I agonise over the aesthetics for the deck, the symbology and colour scheme whilst also poring over the work of other amazing tarot decks trying to unravel how it's done and how I might bring my own style to this ancient system of symbology.

I love the idea of this deck being filled with strange and mysterious beings, beings that perhaps have a human flare but also a wildness to them that is otherworldly and a little unsettling. Afterall - what I love about using Tarot is the no BS attitude of the cards. Oracle cards I find are great for a gentle, soft and uplifting answer, Tarot calls you out on your BS and makes you face facts - this is what I love about it.

So, what will help me get this deck created in a relatively short amount of time I hear you ask? People are already asking about pre-orders!! Well, that is why I created my Membership (The Imaginarium), having a monthly income coming through from supporters really helps me focus on my own personal projects, which means finishing works like this. Every single member subscription means I can dedicate a bit more time each week to getting this work done. It's also the best place for me to share behind the scenes stuff, as well as the channeled messages I receive on a regular basis.
