It’s time to share another behind the scenes of the Angel Guide Oracle Deck. Today I thought I would share the behind the scenes of 'Expect Miracles'
Kyle's main direction with this card was "think gold". LOL. The direction was also to have an angel with a huge smile on their face.
If you have followed my work for a while you will know that I love working with subtle expressions and getting that smile in the eyes more than anything else. Or of course the brooding look. So I was a little nervous about doing a full blown smile - partly because if you're an artist you know what a nightmare it is to make teeth look good! I also wanted to switch up the position of the angel in this one to really feel like this golden energy was raining down on them from above. A challenging perspective with a whole heck of a lot of foreshortening. At the time none of my studio mates were in so I couldn't grab one of them to get a decent reference shot, so I used my little Body Kun model to get the approximate perspective right. As with many of the angel cards there was a balancing point between misty, swirly glow-ey stuff and details that help balance the composition.
