❋ THE STORY

Being a visionary intuitive artist has been an interesting adventure for me. Trained in Graphic Design, I was accustomed to planning a composition through an iterative process of sketching, colour studies and refinement. However as my meditative practice deepened and I explored more metaphysical and spiritual books I found myself receiving entire compositions within the blink of an eye; an image imprinted on my mind’s eye, encoded with frequency and information that I could access at a later point.

This is how I received the vision for ‘Many Hands Make Lightwork’. I was listening to a video from Mike Dooley and Matt Kahn and this image just appeared in my mind’s eye, fully formed and ready to go. But I didn’t understand what it was. Why was I seeing all these hands holding a ball of light? I also rolled my eyes because I find painting hands really hard! 🤪

A fleeting vision became a vision of togetherness and support

The following morning I sat down and started my automatic writing process to ask what the vision was all about and the title of the piece dropped in, a delightful play on words as well as a beautiful message about the light we choose to bring into the world, its impact and how others also carry that light when our own grows dim.

“You may feel that you are wandering alone in the darkness with your little lantern held aloft and all you have is your faith that there are others out there doing the same but in truth those people are out there and they are also shining their lights but it has a much larger effect than you realise.”

Katy’s interpretation of ‘Many Hands’ opens with a playful and light-hearted voice, a sound that encapsulates the humour of the little pun within the title. Her beautiful voice then sings some of the phrases encoded within the message I received. There is a grounded rhythm to the song, it feels reassuring to me, and her song often comes into my head as a mantra during times of difficulty.

"When creating the piece for Many Hands Make Lightwork, what stayed with me most were the vocals that came through after meditating on Jen’s beautiful artwork. As I layered my voice, the finished sound transported me to a space where I felt deeply held and loved. Two years later, I knew the magic in this track was meant to be shared with the world to help support others. In fact, it was this single song that opened the doorway for the rest of the album to unfold."
