The Fool

Hi friends,

I finally had a chance to return to my tarot deck the other week and tackled the very first card in a Tarot deck and the first of the Major Arcana - The Fool.

This card is traditionally shown with a young man gaily setting off an adventure with his little pack on his shoulder. He is often looking dreamily off into the sky whilst heading straight towards a cliff! Sometimes he is accompanied by an animal - usually a dog.

Naturally I chose to take a different direction with my interpretation of this card.

The Fool

Since this deck is called The Spirit Awakening Tarot, I wanted to come at the concept of The Fool from a different angle. This isn’t a naive “fool” who is blindly heading towards a cliff-edge. This is an embodied spirit, who has made many a leap into the unknown in many lives before. They take the leap of faith, trusting their wings to lift them aloft and they leap with confidence and grace. We have therefore tentatively renamed this card ‘Awakening’.
