Artist Discoveries: Edward Burne-Jones

In Secondary school, my art class took a trip to London to visit the amazing selection of the art galleries there. I don't remember how long we were there, but I do remember the impact that some of the art works I saw there had on me and my career as an artist. When we explored the Tate I remember walking into the Pre-Raphaelite section and being entranced by the beautiful creations I found there and I've been a fan of this movement since then.
Specifically I was drawn to the beautiful work of Edward Burne-Jones, one of the well-known members of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. These artists were inspired by classical stories or mythological lore, a subject matter that continues to influence my artwork to this day. One thing that is difficult to convey in this post is the sheer size of these pieces, they are massive, the figures often actual size, glowing in complexion and draped in rich fabrics.
