Archangel Michael - an exploration of Protection

Hi friends, Archangel Michael is widely recognised as one of the most prominent Archangels globally for his protective presence. Many across the world revere him as a saint, seeking his protective energies. He is frequently depicted wielding a mighty sword symbolising justice and truth, embodying strength and guidance.

He has been featured in almost all of the oracle decks I have created thus far. Appearing in the first card within The Angel Guide Oracle deck - Angelic Protection. Here he is shown in his most typical form, with both his sword and energetic shield of protection.

I’ve also explored his energy in my own personal artwork - as shown below. The size of the energetic wings in the image left a strong impression on me. This piece has been one of my most impactful works, resonating with many who encounter it. The way the wings stretch outwards, almost as if defying gravity, adds a sense of movement and liberation to the artwork. It's fascinating how something static can evoke such a dynamic emotion in viewers, drawing them into a world where boundaries seem to blur, and possibilities become endless.

*Michael & Faith* *from* *The Divine Masters Oracle*

Creating the Michael and Faith card from The Divine Masters Oracle was another opportunity to explore this Archangel’s energy whilst also painting his divine counterpart - Archangel Faith. As you can see, the electric blue colour is also a common theme in representations of Archangel Michael.

Last but not least, we have the latest iteration of Archangel Michael as featured in The 22 Archangels Oracle. This time, I wanted to explore the idea of Michael’s sword as something that was seen etched within his very being and so it is represented in a tattoo-style marking that rises from his core. I love the structure and balance of this card. It feels very secure with a solid foundation - as if nothing could shake him.
