A little about me
Hi friends, itβs been a while since Iβve shared anything about my life behind my work, and I thought it would be worthwhile to share a little bit about that here on my blog.
π So firstly, my name is Jennifer Hawkyard (aka Jezhawk) and I'm a full-time illustrator and designer living and working from my home in West Wales. I studied Graphic Design in Canada, where I was also a Permanent Resident for a time before returning back to my homeland in the UK.
π¦ One of my first loves was Horses! I've been a horse rider all my life, riding spare horses that people own, working in racehorse barns and as a stable hand for boarding stables. One of my life-long dreams is to someday own my own horse. Whilst I was in Canada I had the pleasure to find someone who could teach me Falconry (another interest of mine) and in exchange I taught them horsemanship! It was so much fun!! Riding a horse with a falcon flying to my hand is one of my best memories yet in this life.
π I have a cat (Pangerbon) and a dog (Lily) and they keep me entertained and sane. I perpetually feel like I'm living in a Disney movie with them around as they are both such treasures and so sweet.
π Since becoming a first time homeowner I've discovered a love of gardening and I've turned what was a bare and unused plot of land into a beautiful sanctuary for me, my animals and the bees!
π When I'm not in the garden, I'm out in the wilds; the ancient woodlands are where I love to go most, I feel most at peace and alive in these places, they also inspire my artwork deeply.
π Because I'm a digital artist, in my spare time I like to work with my hands on beautiful hand-painted journals, this helps me get away from the screen and I enjoy documenting the things I see around me.
π³ Living on the coast, when the weather allows I'm either on the beach or in the ocean for some wild-swimming.
π And when the weather doesn't allow I'm either catching up on my insanely huge To Be Read pile, practicing the Violin or playing the piano. There's just generally not enough hours in the day!
That is me - in a nutshell! I hope you've enjoyed reading through, and learning a bit more about me!
Any questions? Just drop them in the comments!
