A non-refundable 50% deposit is required before work on a Totem is started.
1) Pick an animal
Some people pick their favourite animal, some choose their favourite breed of dog or cat, some want a Totem version of their beloved pet. If you would like a Totem of your pet, please ensure you provide 1-3 different images of your pet so I can endeavour to capture their likeness.
2) Pick a colour scheme
If you have a colour scheme you would like me to work to, or a favourite colour you would like featured in your artwork please let me know. Otherwise I will choose colours relevent to that particular animal.
3) Think about any symbology you would like included
Totems can represent your own spiritual journey, or a particular animal guide you see all the time following you on your path. If you would like to include certain symbols in your Totem, please let me know and we can discuss how best to include it.
4) Initial sketches
Once we have decided on your Totem animal, colour scheme and symbology I will create 3 pencil sketches that show a rough composition, shape and pattern. These will be emailed to you to choose which one you prefer.
5) Your Totem is completed
Once a compositional sketch is chosen I will start work on your Totem. I can share with you in progress photos or if you prefer to have a surprise at the end then we can wait until you receive the artwork.
The remaining 50% is due upon completion of artwork prior to sending to you, if I am mailing to you, photos can be sent of the final piece prior to mailing to ensure you are happy with the end result. I send all Totems via tracked and insured postal methods. A shipping quote will be provided once the Totem is complete. If you would like to arrange pick-up and payment in person please call or email me to arrange.
Your Totem is delivered unframed and unmounted, if posted - in a mailing tube between tracing paper to prevent any smudging, or if in person between two pieces of foamcore. I’m happy to give advice on mounting and framing if required.
Your Totem is created on professional grade 60lb, 12” x 18” black Strathmore Artagain paper. This paper is Acid Free, and contains 30% post-consumer finer.
The Totem is coloured with Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils - I use Prismacolor because they have soft leads with permanent pigments for excellent results. They are smooth, slow wearing, blendable, water-resistant and extremely light-fast.
The finishing touches of your Totem are added with Golden Heavy Body Acrylic paint . The Heavy Body palette includes the largest assortment of unique pure pigments in a 100% acrylic emulsion available to professional artists. These colors offer excellent permanency and lightfastness.
I look forward to creating a Totem for you!
